The MicroBioDiverSar (Microbial Biodiversity of Sardinia) project, funded by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies (Mipaaf) with funds of the law 194/2015, has been the first project related to microbial resources.

The aim of the project is to survey and catalogue microbial resources available in three Sardinian culture collections (Agris Sardegna, University of Sassari and University of Cagliari), as well as to build both a database and a dedicated web site, whose design and implementation has been assigned to the Bioinformatics Laboratory of the Hospital San Martino of Genova (Ospedale Policlinico San Martino).
